Zimbabwean appointed Cincinnati president

ZIMBABWEAN native Zvisinei Dzepasi Mamutse was recently appointed president of the Cincinnati Harare Sister City, the second-largest city of Ohio in the United States of America.

She became the first Zimbabwean to lead Cincinnati since the establishment of the relationship between Harare and Cincinnati.

Harare became a sister city to Cincinnati, the second largest city of Ohio, in 1990, joining eight other cities. These are Liuzhou of China, Kharkiv of Ukraine, Gifu of Japan, Munich of Germany, New Taipei City of Taiwan, Mysore of India and Amman of Jordan.

The founder of Vasikana Project, a wife, a mother to three who is currently studying towards a PhD in Nursing with a focus on Global Health, takes over from Lois Conyers. Conyers has led the organisation since its founding in 1990.

“It is such an honour to serve as Cincinnati Harare Sister City president, fostering programs to strengthen cultural, educational, health information and business between the two cities, Harare a city I grew up in and Cincinnati a city I have grown to love and now call home,” said Mamutse.

Cincinnati USA Sister City Association president, Bob Herring, backed Mamutse to do well in her new position.

“We have no doubt that with her love for community service and passion, she will immensely contribute to the growth of this relationship,” said Herring.

Mamutse is a practising nurse and certified addiction medicine and menstrual health development programs personality, an author of the journal, “I Call on You Sis,” and the co-publisher of the first menstrual health educational book in the Shona language in Zimbabwe.
