Zimbabwe Cricket Appoints Sammons’ Backroom Coaching Staff

ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) has completed the appointment of the senior men’s national coaching staff to add to the already announced head coach, Justin Sammons and his assistant Dion Ebrahim as per the Mhishi Committee of Inquiry recommendations.

This decision follows the recommendations made by the Mhishi Committee of Inquiry.

Charl Langeveldt, a former South African international cricketer, has been appointed as the Bowling Coach. With his extensive experience, having previously served as the bowling coach for the South African national team, Langeveldt is expected to strengthen the team’s bowling unit.

In addition, two more South African experts have joined the coaching team. Ravish Gobind will take on the role of Strategic Performance Coach, while Curtly Diesel will assume the position of Strength and Conditioning Coach.

These appointments aim to provide comprehensive support to the players, covering both tactical and physical aspects of the game.

The new coaching staff now includes the retention of Stuart Matsikenyeri, who will now serve as the Fielding Coach, while Amato Machikicho will continue in his role as the team’s Physiotherapist.

The appointments were scheduled in consultation with the newly appointed Head Coach, Sammons.

The announcement of the new coaching staff represents a significant advancement for ZC as they seek to reconstruct and fortify their national team for the upcoming T20I series against India.
