ZC picks U19 Women’s Provisional Squad

THE road to the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 officially began for Zimbabwe as its cricket board announced a provisional 24-player squad this week.

This crucial selection followed rigorous national trials conducted in the country’s capital, Harare.

Leading the team once again will be captain Kelis Ndhlovu. She and eight other talented cricketers were part of the squad that competed in the inaugural edition of the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa earlier this year.

The returning players include wicketkeeper Vimbai Mutungwindu, bowlers Kudzai Chigora, Tawananyasha Marumani, Olinder Chare, Chipo Moyo, and all-rounders Kay and Kelly Ndiraya, and Danielle Meikle.

A noteworthy mention is that several members from the earlier edition could not make the cut this time, not due to performance but age restrictions. The competition’s guidelines mandate age limits for participants.

The Zimbabwe Under-19 Women’s team, now steered by head coach Trevor Garwe, will compete in the regional qualifiers.

They aim to secure their position in the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, a prestigious event set to be co-hosted by Malaysia and Thailand.

The full provisional squad is as follows:
Kelis Ndhlovu, Beloved Biza, Tawananyasha Marumani, Chipo Moyo, Olinder Chare, Nokutenda Makanhiwa, Runyararo Pasipanodya, Christina Mutasa, Buhlebenkosi Maphosa, Kudzai Chigora, Passionate Munorwei, Tawana Mudepu, Melinda Kajinge, Diveniah Ndhlalambi, Chanel Machando, Chevaughn Ndoro, Paula Whiley, Danielle Meikle, Monique Mushanyi, Kay Ndiraya, Kelly Ndiraya, Lauren Pemhiwa, Palesa Tinozo, Vimbai Mutungwindu.
