Good Deeds Day Wheelchair Basketball Tournament Returns to Harare Polytechnic Courts

BARTMEPH Foundation is set to host a Good Deeds Day Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on Saturday (April 15) at the Harare Polytechnic Courts.

The tournament, which will be running under the theme “Creating an inclusive culture of doing good deeds and volunteerism for those with disabilities through sports” aims to celebrate the good works and activities done by people with disabilities.

Organising Secretary for Wolves Wheelchair Basketball Club, Job Kumunda has mobilised the other teams to play to keep Wheelchair Basketball alive.

The second edition of the Good Deeds Day Wheelchair Tournament comes hard on the heels of the first one held in December, celebrating the Day for the Differently abled.

“BartMeph is promising more Wheelchair Basketball tournaments in the future as they are trying to source wheelchairs for basketball,” Kumunda told EnterSportNews.

The basketball administrator added they have been putting efforts into the inclusion of people with disabilities in sporting activities.

“As Wolves we have developed many players with disabilities so far, having three players in South Africa league Super Sport, the likes of Daniel Nyuke, Fredrick Ganyaupfu and Remison Manjiva, and we are still developing some as we have Taona Ziki, who is wanted in the United States Of America (USA),” he said.

Four teams are set to participate at the weekend. These are the Wolves Wheelchair Basketball Club, Danhiko, Golden Girls Basketball Club and Richwood Sports Club.
