UZ Wolves Ladies Leap to League Apex
MAGNIFICENT UZ Wolves Ladies team ascended to the top of the Harare Volleyball Premier League table after just one round of playing, having missed the season-opening week due to a technicality.
Their return to the league was marked with lethal blows, 3-0 win against AFC Commercial Bank in their first match on Saturday (25-22, 25-19, 25-21).
The second match was more of a repeat of the first encounter as UZ Wolves walloped Pythons 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-19).
UZ returned with a vengeance on Sunday, their only day’s play, another 0-3 win over Jewels. This time they outwitted the Jewels 5-25 in the first set, won the second set 18-25 and 14-25 in the third set.
With three out of three and undefeated in neither set, they took over the reins from Support Unit. Both sides have amassed nine points, but UZ Wolves are yet to lose any set and have played a game less. Harare City ladies are number three with eight points, and Manyame Falcons sit in fourth position with four points.
Black Rhinos are on the driving sit in the men’s league with 11 points. UZ Wolves are in second place, NABA in third and Bindura Volleyball Club on number four.
