Tichaona eKhaya holds maiden Zim show

CANADIAN-BASED Zimbabwean artist, Tichaona eKhaya held his first ever show on Zimbabwean soil last Sunday at the Alliance Française in Harare.

His music is a combination of genres, a blending of Caribbean Southern African and Canadian sounds concocted at Primrox studios, a studio created with friends and collaborators Gillie Genesis and Kyle Lala.

In one of Tichaona’s media engagements he declared to EnterSportNews, “We play music, when we feel like it, how we feel it and how we like it.”

“All around us, if you allow your mind to wander and explore, get bored even, an explosion in creativity happens and so many pathways that seem impossible can be attempted,” he said.

His genre defying sound invites you to hear it and feel it.

“To hear it is to know it. People experienced eKhayamusic live and welcomed a new sound,” he emphasised.

Tichaona has been making music for over a decade and a half gracing many stages across North America, including Festivals like Harbour Front, KW Multicultural Festival, Kultrun, Jerk-Fest among others.

He got into music while studying Biochemistry at University.

“Over the years, music has been an integral part of my life while pursuing other interests,” he explained.

A scientist, writer educator and creative entrepreneur, Tichaona has a passion for environmental protection and the sustainable use of natural resources.

“It is not the failure of the venture that should scare you, rather the failure to try,” he said.

“No one is promised tomorrow. Live like it is the last day while planning to be there tomorrow,” concluded Tichaona.
