Carol Ndlovu emerged victorious in the Crystal Candy Development Section U14 Girls 2023, displaying remarkable strategic acumen and skill. She earned a commendable 6 out of 7 points, underlining her promising future in chess.
In the combined Crystal Candy Development Section U12 & U14 Open, Daniel Mashawa was crowned the champion, outsmarting his opponents and amassing an impressive 6.5 points. His analytical prowess and outstanding performance have made him one to watch in upcoming chess tournaments.
Grace Zvarebwa, with her exceptional tactics, clinched the top spot in the Crystal Candy Development Section U16 Girls 2023, earning an unbeaten score of 6.5 points. Her victory was a testament to her sheer determination and the depth of her understanding of the game.
The youngest category, the Crystal Candy Development Section U8 & U10 Open 2023, was dominated by Lennon Mpombwa. With a perfect score of 7, he illustrated the potential of Zimbabwe’s youngest chess players.

With a magnificent performance and an unbeaten score of 6.5 points, he solidified his reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s most promising young players. Tolerance Takwala followed closely behind in second place with 6 points, with Mashaninga Tristan taking the third spot with 6 points.
