Teenage Sensation Storms Zim Musical Scene

BULAWAYO-BASED fifteen-year-old indie pop/rock artiste Zyla Storm has graced the local musical scene by storm and is set to launch her new single on digital platforms.

Her real name is Zinhle Ndlovu, the youthful artiste who writes and composes her songs. She is currently managed by famous South African-based afro/world/ soul artist Bekezela.

“Fans can look forward to my realness in my soon-to-be-launched single because when I was writing the song, I was just hoping the lyrics can be relatable, but at the same time, people can vibe to it,” Zyla Storm told EnterSportNews.

“In terms of music, I want to be where the people are because as soon as I realised that I could sing and write songs, I just want to show my gift to the world.

“I also want to inspire people, especially those of my age and show that not only adults can do that but kids too. I want to be on top, and in a few years, I see myself continuing with this career, writing more songs.”

Last month, Zyla Storm performed alongside female DJ Just Drey, Rudo Amor, and the Outfit Band at a human trafficking local event headlined by South African diva Ami Faku.

“Basically, I draw most of my inspiration from my emotions because I am that type of person who does not want to show emotions, so I write, and that is when I get most of my emotions to escape,” said Zyla Storm.

“I did not opt for rock, pop and indie. It just naturally came to me. Rock brings out my emotional side, and pop brings out my poetic side, whilst indie is just me.

To date, Zyla Storm has produced four tracks, the first being about social anxiety. Her second track, titled Nocturnal, is about how relationships can make one nocturnal. The third track is called Angry Love, in which she sings about how love can be angry sometimes, the negative side of love. According to the artist, her fourth track is a song that does not actually have a meaning but is just about people enjoying themselves because it is a weekend.

“I actually consider myself lucky to be mentored by Bekezela because he is a talented artist. He has done this before and won countless awards. He has a good reputation, so I opted to be mentored by him so he could give me tips on this industry I am about to enter. The journey has been smooth, and I have been getting a lot of advice,” added Zyla Storm.

“Television shows brought me into music because I used to see how lively and happy the performers looked. I actually wanted to know what that feels like, especially after discovering that I could sing around the age of nine.

“I feel most of the support I am getting is from my parents, especially from my mum; I feel she is my number one fan at this point because even if I feel like not writing, she is my inspiration apart from my emotions.”
