Kobudo Shihan Wilfred Mashaya has returned home from his conquest, where he won four gold medals at the International Martial Arts Corporation (IMAC) English Open Tournament held at the York Leisure Centre in England.
He was welcomed at Robert Mugabe International Airport by members of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, karate practitioners from various dojos in Harare, and members of his dojo, Zim Ninja Academy.
Mashaya’s gold medal victories came in the Black Belt Traditional Weapon, Black Belt Freestyle Weapon, Black Belt Creative Weapons, and Mixed Weapon Category divisions.
He also secured a silver medal in the Advanced Musical Weapons category.
Shihan Mashaya is now focused on defending his world title in Germany in October of this year. He plans also to take a Kobudo team of more than 20 participants with him to participate in the World Championship if the sponsorship allows.
“I’m glad to be back home, but there’s no time to rest as we have the Germany World Championships where I will be defending my title,” Shihan Mashaya said.
“We are assembling a team of over 20 competitors for the Germany tournament and we are actively seeking sponsorship for the trip. We will also be hosting a selection tournament at the Zim Ninja Academy.”
