Nursel Bemoans Lack of AirPlay

UNITED Kingdom-based Zimbabwean gospel diva, Nursel says her music is not getting airplay, especially at major broadcasting media houses.

The award-winning singer-songwriter said that getting airplay from mainstream media, particularly in Zimbabwe, has been difficult for her.

“I simply get no response. I get ignored, and some even ask for money,” she tells EnterSportNews.

“This is where I need a breakthrough at present. I can weather all other challenges.”

Full name- Nursel Masuka-Mandiopera started recording professionally in the UK in 2016. She released two singles, Like Heaven and Who is there like you.

The other albums she has released include; You are my God – March 2018, Living in Victory – in December 2019 and her latest offering, The Good News, in May last year. The recent album sold out a pay per view prelaunch event in which, to date, Nursel has been releasing track videos.

“My track, Living in Victory, has been played on BBC, and I have had airplay on a few online radios. I, however, market my music mainly through social media,” Nursel added.

“As artistes, we need communication and support from the local radios.”

Nursel has won a couple of accolades such as the Female Gospel Artiste of the year – ZimBrit Awards UK 2022; Best Female Artist, Best Prophetic Song- Living in Victory; Best Video- Makomborero – Maranatha Gospel Music Awards USA 2021; Gospel Artist of the year – Zimbabwe British Entertainment Awards 2020; Best African Contemporary- Living in Victory – Praisetek Gospel Music Awards (PGMA) and a nomination for Gospel Artist of the year – Zimbabwe Music and Arts Awards (ZIMAA) 2016.

“We also need honesty. If they do not like the music to say so simply or that it is not up to their standard,” she added.

“Communication and stating criteria would be great.”

The songbird also appreciates the tremendous support from the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Television. Some of her videos are aired, and Nyami Nyami radio airs some of her songs.

Nursel records her music at Simplicity Records in London and has had a few shows as a featuring artiste and part of gospel groups.

She has made eight videos: Like Heaven, Who is there like you, Living in Victory, Makomborero, You Reign, I Give You All, Ndijeso, and I Love That Man.

“My greatest achievement has been giving people hope, reminding them that Jesus loves them and ministering to them and God,” she said.

“I know this from the testimonies that I receive from listeners on how my music carries them through or has come alive in their lives. My soul blesses the Lord for them! Every song, video, ministration and acknowledgement is an achievement for the Kingdom and me.”
