Master Mashaya Breaks Ground as WNA First Zimbabwean Judge
MASTER Wilfred Mashaya, also known as the Zim Ninja and current Kobudo (Weapons) World Champion, has made history as the first Zimbabwean judge for the esteemed WNA Golden Combo Tournament.
This is a historic moment for Zimbabwe. The appointment of Master Mashaya as the first-ever Zimbabwean judge and the third one from Africa for the WNA Golden Combo tournament represents a significant milestone in the country’s martial arts history, highlighting Zimbabwe’s increasing influence within the international martial arts community.
The reigning Kobudo World Champion’s ability to wield nunchaku with precision and grace has earned him international recognition.
Master Mashaya has amassed a collection of international titles and immortalised in multiple martial arts Hall of Fame.
Founded by Milco Lambrecht in 1996 in the Netherlands, the World Nunchaku Association (WNA) organised the tournament under the expert guidance of Master Otto Koedooder. Participants will be judged based on their skills displayed in brief routines lasting 25-35 seconds online.
In a letter by Master Koedooder, Mashaya’s unparalleled nunchaku skills and reputation were hailed as pivotal in his selection.
The Zim Ninja expresses his gratitude for the opportunity and acknowledges the honour bestowed upon him, citing it as international recognition for his contributions to martial arts.
“I feel honoured to have been chosen as a member of the panel of judges for the World Nunchaku Association tournament,” Master Mashaya said. “This opportunity is not just to celebrate my achievements but also an opportunity to raise the Zimbabwean flag high.”
