ORGANISERS of the inaugural Mashwede 10km Run scheduled for Mashwede Village along High Glen road on Sunday morning have roped in experienced massagists, Rose of Sharon Mobile Massage Clinic, to help with athletes’ recovery.
The Open event starts at 6 am with athletes taking off from the Village and going round the high-density suburbs of Budiriro and Glen View for their 10km.
There’s also the 5km race for the U13 and the exciting Nappy Dash featuring toddlers between the ages of two to four years.
Rose of Sharon Mobile Massage Clinic founder and chief executive officer Sharon Mafukidze said the event suits them perfectly given that their market comprises corporates, athletes, individuals and children. All these groups will be well represented at the race.
“We love helping athletes to achieve better health through massages. We provide sports massages for the athletes to reduce pain and injury risk and speed up muscle recovery.
“Because after the run, athletes tend to have sore muscles and muscle injury. Partnering with Mashwede Run means a lot to us because our portfolio keeps getting rave reviews and a massive opportunity to meet new clients.”
The company started three years ago, and they have worked with sports tourism experience, Rhino Run, Lake Chivero, and Exide Marathon, among other stakeholders.
Representing Mr Pace, Collin Makaza has predicted a fast and furious 10km run.
“The course is not hilly, which athletes often come across, and coupled with the chilly weather, which makes it a good course to run, we are certain records will be broken during this event,” Makaza told EnterSportNews.
Event coordinator Martha Mashamhanda is excited to be launching the Nappy Dash.
“This is a race to be for all our youngsters as we bid to catch them young and ensure that the future of Zimbabwe athletics is bright. Health and fitness lifestyle should begin now, not at any later stage, which is why we have introduced this race specifically for our toddlers. It will be a permanent feature on our sporting calendar,” she said.
