Kayflow ready to flow on home turf
Gweru-based music chanter Kayflow-born Freedoom Chimudzeka has been taking the entertainment space by storm with tracks like Pengelenge (ft Bagga), Sei Sei, By Force, Hakuna (ft Bryan K and Tammy Moyo) and promises fireworks come the 29 March.
The date 29 March is a special day for the former Midlands State University student as he will be sharing the stage with a host of big artists, big among them being Cassper Nyovest, a well-decorated South African hip hop brand known regionally and all over the world.
EntersportNews got in touch with Kayflow and a converse with the talented lad revealed a lot chief among things being excitement on the upcoming show.
“Fire hapana, straight up fire,’ introduced Kaflow with a mix of vernacular and English.
“As an artist, you always have to try new and diverse things and that’s what we will be showcasing on the 29th. Cassper is a big artist not only in Africa but is also well known all over the world and to share a stage with him on home turf it’s a big leap for me in my career,” he added.
Also on the list will be Bagga, Saintflow, Nisha T, and Holyten.
It’s always a wonderful feeling making headlines on home turf and the ‘Senga Nehosho’ chanter believes the same.
“I grew up in Gweru and to always come back being part of huge shows like this is nothing but a blessing. The line-up of artists says it all, expect nothing but a banger of a show.”
Kayflow latest collaborative effort with Nisha T and Baggatitled Pengelenge has so far amassed 219k views on YouTube with a lot of warm and promising comments flowing from fans abroad and locally.
“So Pengelenge came after I released my first single of the year Mudendere. So it was a premiere of a lot of works that are going to be coming and Pengelenge is one of them. Works with Bagga have been good so far and adding Pengelenge to the catalogue makes it more interesting.”
Last year Kayflow clinched the Best Live Act award at the 2024 Zim Hip Hop Awards. The awards were held on December 13, 2024, at Royal Gate Gardens in Chisipite. It was an addition to the Best Newcomer award he clinched at the 2023 Zim Hip Hop Awards held at 7 Arts Theatre.
With all the works, big collaborations, gongs and banging shows Kayflow has been part of he however humbled himself disbanding himself from the description ‘famous’.
“I cannot relate to the description that I’m famous. Fans are starting to understand my music and the response has been good. My credit goes to consistency which has been plugged by God. God is my guide and inspiration in getting the energy to do music.”
Kayflow is from Gweru, Zimbabwe. From a teenager, he was already writing verses and testing the waters. Affiliated to Mushroom media Kayflow released his first (EP) called Nyamadrive. On his first EP, he collaborated with award-winning producer Nasper.
