Highlanders edge city neighbours

DEVINE Mhindirira’s goal before the breather saw Highlanders hold on to a 1-0 win over Bulawayo Chiefs in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match played at Barbourfileds Stadium this afternoon.

The goal came after 36 minutes, with the Bosso midfielder firing home from the edge of the box, beating Chiefs’ goalkeeper David Bizabani.

Both sides played purposeful football, hoping to find the back of the net after the breather. However, goals eluded both sides, and Highlanders went home the happier of the two.

Bosso’s assistant coach Joel Luphahla was happy with collecting the three points.

“We are not under pressure…we want to try and collect maximum points in the remaining three matches,” he said.

Despite missing some influential players due to an unconfirmed industrial action due to unpaid salaries, Chiefs coach saw positives in the defeat.

“Overall, it was an outstanding display from us. I am happy, and I never expected the team to give us such a good performance, especially the youngsters.”
