VETERAN Netball umpire, Agness Chiroodza, has been appointed as the new manager of the Zimbabwe national netball team, the Gems.
Her appointment comes after the demise of the late netball gaffer Ledwin Dondo. Dondo died early this year.
Chiroodza will be in charge of the Gems in the Pent Series and African Championships, both held in Windhoek Namibia, later this month.
Zimbabwe Netball Association (ZINA) president Letitia Chipandu confirmed Chiroodza’s appointment.
“Chiroodza was appointed on the grounds of her being the most technically qualified person in the country so that she assisted coaches with the technical rules of the game. The Gems have not competed for almost two years hence needs close monitoring in preparation for the two tournaments in Namibia,” said Chipandu.
Currently, the Gems are stationed at position 12 in the World Netball rankings and ranked 4th in Africa after South Africa, Uganda and Malawi.
