RECENTLY crowned Debmarine Pent Series bronze medalists, Zimbabwe, begin their African Netball Championships campaign with a tough task against defending champions South Africa in Windhoek, Namibia.
The match is scheduled for 2 pm Zimbabwean time at the Patrick’s Iyambo Police Courts. All matches will be streamed.
The Lloyd Makunde coached side finished fourth at the last African Netball Championships played in South Africa in 2019.
South Africa arrived in Namibia shortly after the Pent Series won by Uganda, went through their paces at the training complex, and itching to get off their title defence on a winning note.
Despite the odds favouring South Africa, the Gems will also be motivated to brighten up their chances of a podium finish buoyed by the bronze gained in the Pent Series to throw spanners in their neighbours’ path to success.
After South Africa, Zimbabwe will play against host Namibia on Wednesday before meeting Pent Series runners-up Malawi on Thursday.
A date against Tanzania on Friday will be followed by a doubleheader against Uganda and Zambia on Saturday before winding off their group stage matches against Botswana and Kenya on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
