College Central Releases 3rd Web Series
… Focuses On Revenue Generation
HAVING successfully premiered on Valentine’s Day, Love Made Me Do It is College Central’s latest offering with the film company insisting on revenue generation vis-à-vis quality production.
College Central Head of Production, Kudakwashe Jani told EnterSportNews the new mini web series is currently available on YouTube and Gateway Stream Media.
“Gateway Stream will be a week ahead of the YouTube schedule and this is a move meant to generate revenue as we are selling the series on Gateway,” he said.
Jani emphasized if they could get proper funding, the quality in production will definitely go up.
“Well, the biggest challenge is always money or rather sponsorship and we end up cutting a lot of corners. However, where we lack in funding we make it up by being creative,” he said.
According to the director Derby Bheta, the inspiration towards this production was just coming up with something for Valentine’s Day.
“Vanessa is telling us her story and the reason why she did what she did is because of love hence the title “Love Made Me Do It”.
The mini web series has 5 episodes (15 minutes). It is a story of Vanessa, recently engaged to Benjamin finds out that he is dating two others girls; Diana and Wadza who is even pregnant with his child. She invites these girls to the house so they could confront Benji as he is tied down but the plan goes south as Vanessa ends up killing Benji to save Diana and now all the girls have to work together to get rid of the body without being caught.
“Vanessa is played by Clotilda Nyagowa and Benji played by Ngoni Chikowore,” said Bheta.
Jani concluded they chose Gateway Stream mainly because they have worked with them before and the platform is secure with no chances of hacking.
“The content is also assured so it was so easy to partner with them,” he said.
“Wadiwa Wepa Moyo Season 2 did quite well on Gateway Stream as it was one of the highest grossing content on the platform in 2021,” he added.
College Central has worked on other productions namely; Wadiwa Wepa Moyo, Blue Roof, Close Call, Things we do for love and Special Class.
