Cimas iGo Extends Health and Wellness Campaign to Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup

ZIMBABWE’s leading medical aid society, Cimas, is committed to promoting health and well-being by sponsoring the Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup. This event will take place on February 17th in the resort town of Nyanga, at Troutbeck.

Cimas, which has been the leading medical aid society in the country for over 75 years, has been a key associate sponsor of the prestigious event for six years.

The Troutbeck terrain, from the cold open water to the hilly terrain for running and biking, offers a great challenge for Elite athletes and ordinary competitors.

Zimbabwean triathlete Andi Kuipers will compete with other elites in the event to earn points for the International Triathlon Union (ITU) ranking system, which will count as Olympic Ranking Qualification points.

According to the World Health Organization 2023 report, noncommunicable diseases (NCDs)such heart disease, cancer, chronic respiratory disease, and diabetes kill 41 million people each year, equivalent to 74% of all deaths globally. Each year, 17 million people die from a NCD before age 70; 86% of these premature deaths occur in low and middle-income countries.

Cimas offers the iGo Health and Wellness Plan to help people live longer and reduce the number of deaths. The plan provides access to wellness coaches, dieticians, fitness coaches, and other resources to support members’ overall well-being.

The package includes discounts on meals at specific restaurants, spas, and cinemas, available to all members at no extra cost.

The upcoming edition of this year shows great promise for being larger and more impressive than ever before. The multi-sport festival, held annually, has established itself as a leading attraction for health and wellness plus sports tourism in Zimbabwe.

Elite athletes from South Africa, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands and Ireland, are part of a stellar cast of those that want to gain points and qualify for the Paris Olympics later this year.

Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup which has evolved into a multi-sport festival annual event to include such activities such as corporate challenge, aquathlon, mountain biking, open water swim and many more.

Madzikanda said: “We encourage our members to focus on key health behaviours such as participating in physical activities and improving eating habits. The benefits include but not limited to reduced healthcare costs, a healthy, quality, long life and a productive work force.”

The iGo brand was launched by Cimas in 2016 and it focuses on preventive health and lifestyle modification.

The Bonaqua Africa Triathlon Cup is now in its 16th year and the sponsors have committed to continue to grow together with the event.
