Champions converge in Greendale for The Carling Black Label National Pool Finals

ZIMBABWE’S finest pool players gear up for the Carling Black Label National Pool Championship finals at Zimbali Events & Lifestyle in Greendale, Harare, on Saturday.

After exciting regional qualifiers that took place across the nation, 128 of the country’s best cue masters are prepared to demonstrate their skills in a high-stakes tournament that guarantees to keep spectators on the edge of their seats.

Pool halls throughout Zimbabwe buzzed with excitement from June 01 to July 27 last month, as players fiercely battled for their shot at glory. Now, 64 talented women and 64 skilled men compete for the top spots.

According to Kundayi Mawema, the Marketing Manager for Lager Beer at Delta Beverages, the qualifying rounds saw an unprecedented surge in participation, with 26 tournaments held nationwide, each more intense than the last.

But, it is not just bragging rights at stake. The cream of the crop will walk away with a whopping $2,500 prize and a pool table to boot. The runners-up will not go home empty-handed either, with second place snagging $1,500, third place pocketing $1,000, and fourth place earning a respectable $500.

“There was an increase in participation across centres as the Champions came through to battle it out for a chance to be crowned the national champion. The Carling Black Label National Pool Championship promises to be an electrifying event filled with incredible displays of sportsmanship,” Mawema said.
