Bonaqua celebrates 5 years in Triathlon

BONAQUA Water will celebrate its fifth anniversary next weekend as the official title sponsor for the Bonaqua African Triathlon Cup Troutbeck scheduled for Nyanga on September 25.

The event features strong elite men and women line-ups who are keen to rack up crucial Olympics Qualifying points for the Paris Olympics scheduled for July to August 2024.

The elite field is expected to be the drawcard as usual, although the number of international athletes coming to Zimbabwe seems to have decreased marginally due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Greer Wynn will represent Zimbabwe in the Elite Women category. Laurelle Brown has opted to sit out this year’s Elite competition due to other commitments.

“The Bonaqua African Triathlon Cup Troutbeck, which is sanctioned by the International Triathlon Union (ITU), is contributing positively towards the development of sports and tourism in Zimbabwe by attracting regional, continental and global athletes,” Bonaqua Troutbeck event organise, Rick Fulton said during the launch of this year’s Bonaqua African Triathlon Cup Troutbeck held at Meikles Hotel.

“Troutbeck is well known as one of the world’s best resorts for sport and tourism due to the availability of safe, clean, disease and animal-free water, good roads within a perfect terrain, as well as a friendly climatic environment. The course is also one of the hardest.”

The Bonaqua African Triathlon Cup affords World Ranking points for elite athletes within the ITU ranking system. The points scored by elite athletes will ultimately become Olympic Ranking Qualification points for Paris 2024.
