Muzarabani glides Chevrons to victory

BLESSING Muzarabani helped Zimbabwe to a thrilling Super Over win over Pakistan in the third and final ODI in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

The match had tied on 278 after 50 overs.
Subsequent to taking five wickets in guideline time, Muzarabani weaved his sorcery again as he asserted two scalps in the one-over eliminator from which Pakistan could just oversee two runs.

In the Super Over, Muzarabani took two wickets with Pakistan just scoring two runs. Brendan Taylor and Sikandar Raza took charge of the batting department in the super over as Taylor wasted little time with a single to exit the strike. Raza then missed the second delivery but drove four the succeeding delivery from Shaheen Afridi as Zimbabwe effectively knocked off the three runs required for the success – their first in Pakistan since 1998.

Brendan Taylor weaved his way to a half-century before he was caught in the covers while going for a big shot. Wessley Madhevere contributed with an important 33, with four fours, off 31 balls before his excusal left Zimbabwe on 181 for 5 in the 38th over. Raza finally came out of his shell with a 36-ball 45 runs before Zimbabwe totalled 278 for 6 from their 50 overs, with Williams not out with 118.

Pakistan’s pursuit got off to an awful beginning as Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava tore through the house side’s top-request, excusing Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman for four and two individually after only eight wads of the innings.

Zimbabwe kept on turning in the screws and showed up well on course to an immense triumph when Donald Tiripano, who substituted Carl Mumba for this match, bowled both Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed to leave the home side reeling at 88 for five in the eighteenth over.
