Mashonaland East Volleyball Association chairman outlines his blueprint
The newly elected Mashonaland East Volleyball Association chairman Thulisani Zarima has long term plans to revamp volleyball in his constituency to become more competitive and productive.
For a long time, volleyball in Mashonaland East has been mainly dominated by schools but the new man at the helm has a mission to accomplish.
” l want to revive more competitive clubs and l have already started the engagement process. I also want to revive the District Volleyball Association for all the 9 districts and l am starting with Goromonzi district where l come from. As the new chairman, I want to engage all the stakeholders to chat the way forward. Above all, I desire to work hard to attract sponsorship for the province,” Zarima revealed.
The new chairman highlighted his commitment to see the return of competitive league in Mash East.
” An efficient and competitive League will see the return of our players who are plying their trade in other provinces. We want to produce teams that will play in the National League. Currently, only Ruwa Volleyball Club was at the verge of playing in National League but covid 19 had other ideas. I also want teams from Mash East to represent Zimbabwe at zone 6″, he said.
Zarima is a busy man who has multi-tasks to perform. He has to strike a balance between his daily duties and sport.
” As an accountant by profession, l balance council work and volleyball tasks well because my employer understands the sport. Whatever l do, l have the full blessings of my employer”, the chairman explained.
The new chairman is now the Zimbabwe Volleyball Association Board member. He played a key role in introducing volleyball in the dormitory town of Ruwa with the main objective of identifying and nurturing talent.
