Chifo allays Musonda injury fears

ZIMBABWE Women’s cricket team coach Adam Chifo has confirmed the availability of captain Mary-Anne Misonda for the T20I series against Thailand that kicks off at Takashinga Sports Club this afternoon. The match bowls off at 12.30hrs.

Musonda did not feature in the last Unofficial One Dayer against the same opposition on Tuesday at the same venue amid fears that her knee injury had recurred.

“Mary is around and available. She was just resting,” Chifo told Entersportnews.

Thailand went on to win the match comfortably by five wickets to ensure a share of the spoils as the four-match series ended 2-2.

Today marks the start of the three-match T20I series, and the hosts are using these games as part of their build-up for the ICC Women’s Africa T20 Qualifiers scheduled for Botswana next month.

“Our main thrust is to use the T20 matches to prepare for Botswana but obviously, we will be seeking to win as we do that,” added Chifo.

“We will definitely be trying our combinations and tactics so that we can come up with a solid plan for the T20 Qualifiers.”
