Durham secured a resounding 347-run victory against Zimbabwe ‘A’ in their opening three-day match at Harare Sports Club on Friday.
The final day began with Zimbabwe ‘A’ precariously placed at 115 for six, facing an uphill battle to chase down a daunting target of 481 runs.
Despite a brave effort, Zimbabwe ‘A’ faltered as Dion Myers, who resumed the day unbeaten on 20, was bowled out by Matthew Potts after adding just two more runs. Myers’ innings, lasting 59 balls, was the longest effort from any Zimbabwe ‘A’ batsman, revealing the team’s struggles.
The lower order offered minimal resistance, although Tanaka Chivanga and Alex Falao managed to add 12 runs for the last wicket. However, the match concluded swiftly when George Drissell dismissed Chivanga, sealing Zimbabwe ‘A’s fate at 133 all out.
Matthew Potts was the standout performer with the ball, taking four wickets for 37 runs, while Will Rhodes and Mitchell Killeen chipped in with crucial breakthroughs.
