SCOTT Sakupwanya, the House of Assembly Member for Mabvuku/Tafara, brought festive cheer to elderly residents in his constituency. Sakupwanya, who has traditionally supported those aged 80 and above, this year extended his kindness to include those aged 50 and above.
At a grocery handover ceremony held at Number 1 Ground in Mabvuku, Pritchard Sibanda, Shadowy Councilor for Ward 21, praised Sakupwanya’s efforts, saying, “Every year, Honourable Sakupwanya remembers the elderly by giving them food hampers during the festive season.” Sibanda emphasized that the gifts were available to all eligible residents, regardless of their political affiliation.
The grocery hampers, which included essential items like cooking oil, sugar, salt, beans, and laundry soap, were a welcome relief to many elderly residents, including 78-year-old Robina Lampiao. Lampiao, who is a breadwinner for her grandchildren, expressed her gratitude to Sakupwanya, saying, “I was faced with a bleak Christmas, but Scott came to our rescue. May God give him many years to take care of us.”
Sakupwanya’s kindness has made a significant impact on the lives of many elderly residents in Mabvuku/Tafara, and his efforts have been recognized as a shining example of community service.
