SHIHAN Wilfred Mashaya, affectionately known as the “Zim Ninja,” has returned triumphant from Wales, bagging an impressive four medals with an equal number of gold and silver at the prestigious WMAC Wales tournament.
The two-day extravaganza, hosted by WMAC Wales President Chris Sparkes and Robert Taylor, brought together top martial artists from around the world, including representatives from Wales, England, Nepal, Spain, Zimbabwe, Ukraine, and India.
Amidst stiff competition, Shihan Mashaya’s exceptional skills in traditional and freestyle weaponry earned him two gold medals, while his creativity and extreme skills in weapons categories secured him two silver medals.
The Zimbabwean martial arts sensation’s remarkable achievement was made possible, in no small part, due to the support of his compatriots.
A group of dedicated fans, including Lincoln Nyangani, Destiny Chikonzo, Natalya Nyangani and Debra Chikonzo, drove from England to cheer him on, providing a much-needed boost to his morale.
Master Mashaya was quick to express his gratitude to his sponsors, Bhola the Mega Mart and Total One-Stop Tools Station, as well as individual contributors who chipped in to support his journey.
“I am deeply grateful to my sponsors and the Zimbabweans who came out to support me,” he said in a statement.
“Their belief in me has given me the strength to raise our country’s flag high on the world stage.”
The Zim Ninja’s impressive haul in Wales has set the tone for his future conquests in the world of martial arts weaponry.
With his confidence and determination at an all-time high, Mashaya aims to continue making waves globally and he returns to Zimbabwe on Wednesday.
