Data-Driven Analysis Ensures Fair Play in The Heart Women Soccer Tourney

THE Heart Women Soccer League tournament has set new standards by professionalising and revolutionising football analysis.

The tournament in a groundbreaking move, has employed cutting-edge technology to help select the outstanding individuals who have shone above everyone during the tournament.

With the player-of-the tournament walking away with $1500 dollars, the tournament organizers wanted a fair process that gives a fair chance of being selected to all deserving players.

The league partnered former ZIFA Technical Director, Wilson Mutekede who is using the Technical Study Group (TSG), a football analysis tool to help come up with the outstanding goalkeeper, most disciplined, coach of the tournament and most valuable player.

The TSG is using data driven insights to make sure accuracy and objectivity, minimising favouritism amongst the panelist.

With TSG, you can quantitatively evaluate each match by capturing the goal scorers, assists, number of saves by the goalkeepers and each time a team loses the ball to their opponents.

Each individual player is scored and their contributions are assessed for their decisive impact on team success.

Mutekede’s expert analysis team is spearheaded by former Mighty Warriors captain Nomsa “Boys” Moyo, Bridget Chandamale another Mighty Warriors player, Tsitsi Shiri CAF C license holder and Lillian Masase another former Mighty Warriors player.

TSG like most analysis tools rely on collaborating with broadcasters for the feed, something that Mutekede is grateful for.

“Collaboration with broadcasters provides access to monitors for replays, enhancing data accuracy. Post-game, the TSG team deliberates, referencing the tool, and confirms cautions and goals with match officials to minimise subjectivity and bias.”said Mutekede.
