THE Zimbabwe Football Association Normalisation Committee is expected to start accepting applicants from candidates who want to sit for exams to become registered FIFA football agents.
According to the FIFA website, a calendar of these exams has been availed, and a formal announcement by the NC is believed to be imminent, with sources suggesting that it is only awaiting ratification.
The deadline to apply as a candidate for the exam, which will be held on 20 September, is this Monday, 31 July.
This will be the first public exam to be held in Zimbabwe, and applicants should expect to pay a minimal cost.
The sources said successful FIFA-approved candidates, especially females, may be considered to sit the exam for free. Aspiring agents with legal or marketing backgrounds have been called on to apply.
“The Zifa Normalisation Committee is working towards holding a FIFA agents exam on 20 September. The deadline for submission of applications has been set for Monday, 31 July,” revealed the source.
“The NC is determined to ensure that locals join a total of 6,586 candidates from 138 member associations representing all confederations who have applied to take the FIFA football agent exam…the first of its kind since the FIFA Football Agent Regulations (FFAR) entered into force in January 2023. It shows a massive endorsement of the new football agent legal framework from all those working in the football agency market,” the sources said.
The introduction of the licensing system is a key component of the FFAR as it raises the professional and ethical standards for the profession of football agents, thus leading to an increase in the quality of the service they provide to their clients across the football industry.
“The significant number of applications we have received confirms that many individuals across the world are looking forward to working within the new regulatory framework, which will ensure basic service standards for football agents and their clients through well-defined rules and increased certainty,” commented FIFA Chief Legal & Compliance Officer Emilio García Silvero on their website.
Additional exams have been scheduled for 20 September 2023, as well as for May and November 2024.
Following a transitional period, licensed football agents will become compulsory from 1 October 2023.
Further details on the process required to become an agent are available in the “Agents” section on FIFA.com.
The first FIFA football agent exam was held on 19 April this year, and the second on 20 September. 2024 FIFA will conduct two football agent exams in May and November. The following application deadlines will apply.
