Zimbabwe Cricket Legend Heath Streak Battles Cancer: Wife Provides Encouraging Update Amidst Critical Condition Rumors

ZIMBABWE legendary all-rounder Heath Streak, battling cancer at a South African specialist hospital, is “doing great so far,” his wife Nadine confirmed on Saturday.

Media reports on Saturday suggested that the former speedster was critically ill and only “a miracle would save him”.

His wife responded to the message sent to the now-banned cricket administrator on the grounds that he breached the ICC anti-corruption guidelines.

“Hello, all you special people. Thank you for all your wonderful messages, words of encouragement and prayers. Heath is getting an overwhelming number of messages where he can’t keep up, hard as he tries,” Nadine wrote.

“So, as his boss lol, I have confiscated his phone for a few days so he can rest and get stronger. He’s doing great so far!! Thanks for all your concerns. It really is greatly appreciated. All the very best … Nads.”

Meanwhile, the family also issued a statement confirming Streak’s battle with cancer and the subsequent hospitalisation.

” Heath remains in good spirits and will continue to fight this disease in the similar vein with which he faced his opponents during his playing days on the cricket field,” read the statement.

“The family hopes that you understand and respect their wish for this to remain a private family matter, and they wish to thank you for your prayers and good wishes.”
