“Sneeze” Burial Set For Bulawayo

ZIMBABWE CRICKET senior women’s team assistant coach Sinikiwe Gava “Sneeze” Mpofu, who passed on in Masvingo on Saturday, will be buried in her hometown, Bulawayo.

The former Lady Chevrons international collapsed at her home in Masvingo and was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.

She leaves behind two sons, Farrel and Tyrese. She was 37.

Her death comes barely three weeks after the passing on of her husband, Shepherd Makunura, Zimbabwe senior men’s fielding coach and Southern Rocks gaffer, who died at a local hospital in Harare on December 15.

Makunura’s young brother, Jonah, said the body is expected to lie in state at Mpofu’s family home in Njube on Tuesday.

“Her body will be transferred to Bulawayo, and a post-mortem is scheduled for tomorrow morning (Monday). The body will lie in state on Tuesday at the family residence and with burial set for Wednesday morning at a local cemetery,” said Jonah.

“We would have wanted to bury our wife in Harare close to her husband, but it was her family’s wish that she be buried in Bulawayo, and we respect that wish. We understand that she was a hero in Bulawayo in the same realm her husband was a hero in Harare.”
