Bootkin Klan Reunites, Adds New Member

POPULAR yesteryear musical group, Bootkin Klan has regrouped and released a new track featuring latest recruit, Lutah King.

The new track titled Runaway was released in March at Lazzie T Big Tingz Studio. Current group members are Emmanuel Motsi aka Mannex, Lozario Zhita aka Lozy Fresh, Michael Buruzi aka 2bobo and Martin Kandengwa aka Lutah King.

The Tsamba hitmakers fronted by Mannex say the track is about good friendship and what surrounds it.

“It is about how some friends will push you to do bad things. Throwing you right into the dark black hole, you better watch out and keep away from drugs and put God first, even in friendship,” Mannex told EnterSportNews.

“The video is currently being aired on ZTV and features a guy running away from bad friends and almost getting killed.

“The track raises awareness on drugs, promiscuity and alcohol. The video is also available on various social media platforms such as YouTube.”

Bootkin Klan was formed in 2002, and the group has two albums, namely, Tsamba (2003), which had six tracks, and Anoti Nyo Ndiani (2004), which has 10 tracks. Original members of the group were Lozy Fresh, 2bobo and Mannex. The group later went on to add two more members namely; Tendai Samudzi aka Sammy T and Farai Mutongi aka Shuuman.

Lutah King said he is proud to join Bootkin Klan and is in it until eternity.

“As a musician, I have worked with big artists like Prime Minister, Sniper Storm, Mannex, Jerry B, Yombree Man, Sir Calaz, Ptk, Jmp, T man Mount Zion, Levels & Fantan, Legend Eli, Metro, Benny B and Lazzie T. Now I am a member of this esteemed group, and indeed, it is still alive. I can also confirm the release of the brand new track Runaway,” he said.

The other group member, 2bobo, said that apart from Lutah King, they are also bringing back Sammy T and Shuuman and working with a live band.

“A few years ago, our economy was not doing very well, and we had to go our separate ways in search of greener pastures. However, most of the members remained musically active, especially Mannex. Unfortunately, most of the other guys’ works did not reach the radio,” 2bobo said.

“Bootkin Klan has been quiet, but we are all there. More new members have joined under my Mannex Motsi Music label, which opens up for new artists, especially at live show performances inspired by Warren Park Arts & Kulture Development Association. This is the start of the reunion by just releasing singles, so fans know we have more coming up,” said Mannex.

Currently, Mannex does live performances around the country. He embarked on a solo career with Bootkin Klan in 2005, releasing Munhu Mutema, an album with 10 tracks. Between 2008 to 2013, he worked with Transit Crew and recorded the album Unity, which has 10 tracks and features the hit song Rozi.

He recorded the song Vavengi which came out at no five on the top 100 charts in 2011; in which Isaac Chirwa produced the video at Sunshine Studios. In 2012, he released a 15 track-compilation album. Mannex produced his first reggae album called Mo Love in 2013, complimented by the video Mwari Ndewe Munhu wese. In 2014, he released a nine-track collaboration album with Czech Republic Radio 1 DJ Semtam.

“I formed my first band Mo Familee 2013 to 2017, and it did not work out well with members migrating to South Africa. I then founded the current one, ZimReggaestra, and so far, we have been contracted to be the band for international artists such as Antony B’s show at Glamis Stadium Star FM bash,” added Mannex.

“Others include Turbulence, Mega Banton and Epixode from Ghana when they toured Zimbabwe. We did backing vocals alongside Sista Flame, Lady Thanda and Jehfari. Also, not forgetting when Tony Rebel came for his two shows at Waterworld and Aquatic Complex.”

Mannex’s latest track, Diamond In the Ruff, is currently being aired on national radio, and the video has just been released on ZTV.
