Eagles Women clinch T20 trophy

EAGLES Women beat Mountaineers by seven wickets to clinch the Women’s T20 Cup at Harare Sports Club and effectively their second trophy of the season.

An all-around display by rising batting sensation Kellis Ndlovu ensured that former Zimbabwe fast bowler Trevor Garwe won his second trophy as a coach in two weeks, having guided the Eagles ladies to the Fifty50 Challenge victory.

In a low scoring match, former Zimbabwe captain Chipo Mugeri tried to up the ante after a sedate start from her fellow opener Lorryn Phiri. Mugeri was stumped for 19(21) by Eagles captain Modester Mupachikwa off the bowling of Precious Marange.

Nyasha Gwanzura did not last long after she was run out for three runs by Ndlovu to spark some wild celebrations from the Eagles girls, who could now sense blood.
