ZIMBABWE Netball captain Felisitus Kwangwa’s Signature Netball is out.
The colourful, Zimbabwe-flag matching ball was released yesterday.
Kwangwa, a Gilbert Netball ambassador, and other ambassadors were each tasked to design their signature ball.
The Zimbabwe Gems skipper who plays for Surrey Storm made history last season by becoming the first Zimbabwe player in the Vitality Super League in the United Kingdom.
As if that was not enough, she was made one of the 19 Gilbert Netball brand ambassadors in her debut season.
The Njube-born, Kwangwa, was the poster girl of Gilbert Netball’s limited edition of evolution shoes marketing campaign.
Her signature ball features the Zimbabwe flag and her quote: ‘never say never.’
The ball is available in size five and features a blended rubber surface and synthetic latex bladder.
Speaking to EnterSportNews last year, when she finished her design, she said the design was inspired by her netball journey, wanting to put her country on the netball map and inspiring others who want to follow in her footsteps.
“I put the flag because I am the first Zimbabwean to play in the Vitality Super League, and I also wanted to make sure that anyone who sees the ball just thinks of Zimbabwe. The motto never say never is there to encourage others,” Kwangwa said.
Looking at the final product, you can tell that the ball manages to capture her journey adequately. Her agent, Step Out 7 director Michelle Welch said, “the great thing is that Felisitus designed it herself to represent her nation,” Welch told EnterSportNews.
