EXPLOSIVE Zimbabwe batsman Brendan Taylor is gutted to miss today’s opening T20I match against Pakistan at Harare Sports Club due to illness.
The experienced former captain had a double dose of misfortune after suffering food poison before being relegated out of the three-match T20I series opener owing to a bout of flu.
Taylor missed last month’s tour of the United Arab Emirates against Afghanistan and was in line for a welcome return this morning. He, however, remains positive that he would be taking part in the remainder of the series.
“I had food poisoning three days ago, not sure how, now gone down with the flu but certainly slightly better today,” Taylor told EnterSportNews this morning.
“Will be ready for the rest of the series, obviously you want to play every game but sometimes it’s out of your control.”
Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed the wicketkeeper’s absence in the on-going match in Harare.
“Brendan Taylor has been ruled out of Zimbabwe’s first T20 international against Pakistan, currently underway at Harare Sports Club as he is recovering from a gastrointestinal infection,” ZC said.
