ZimNinja Academy Gears Up For Online Tournament
Preparations for the online karate championships to be held in mid-December are at an advanced stage at ZimNinja Academy.
Sensei Wilfred Mashaya, chief instructor at the academy is working tirelessly to ensure that the boys are in a good shape before competitions kick start.
“We are buoyed by the six medals we recently scooped in the inaugural Mediterranean Karate Alliance – OTW online championships held on the 5th and 6th of September this year. We are hungry for more and this time around we will leave no stone unturned. We are fielding ten athletes and hope we can grab more medals for Zimbabwe.”

“Organizers of the online tournament will request for katas to be sent in video form and judgement will be done in December on the date to be announced”, said sensei Mashaya.
The chief instructor and Kobudo pioneer in Zimbabwe rose to fame when he won three medals in a space of two days during the International Martial Arts competition last year.
He has revealed the secret behind his success. “Discipline, hard work and focus are very fundamental if one is to be successful”, Wilfred said.
Kobudo is a system of martial arts in which practitioners use swords and other ancient weapons. The competition involves both pre-arranged forms known as Kata, freestyles, combat or Kumite
