Musakanda Ton Inspires MidWest

Zimbabwe’s batsman-extraordinaire Tarisai Musakanda struck 142 as the fledgeling National Premier League began to take root on the country’s Covid-19 hit sporting scene.

The Midwest captain’s century inspired his Kwekwe based side to a comfortable 148-run victory over Gladiators on the second day of action at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday.

The 23-year old hard-hitter was sacked by Australian club New City Cricket Club in Victoria following a drink-driving conviction, came back home, quietly worked on his game and looks set to be back to his usual best.

Takudzwa Kaitano proffered a half-century, 63, Nyasha Mayayo fell eight runs short of a half-ton as MidWest raced to 306-8 in 45 overs. Gladiators’ Masimba Maruvatsanga was unplayable with the ball claiming four wickets for 59 runs while Owen Muzondo picked a single wicket.
